February 5-7, 2027
Some games start on Friday February 5 at 3:00 PM, so please be aware you may need to be there at that time. All teams will play on Championship Sunday.
The tournament will be held at both Standard-Rosebud Arena and Hussar Arena. Your team will likely have games at both arenas.
We are hosting 4 teams per division in: U11 Tier 4, U15 Tier 3 Weak and U18 Tier 3 Weak.
Currently the U11 division is full.
Each team is guaranteed four games! Three round-robin games and one game on Championship Sunday.
We are happy to provide 3 full period, stop-time games---just like your regular game format in league play.
U11 - $1500
U15 - $1750
U18 - $1900
Teams are suggested to stay in Strathmore, which is a 25 minute drive to Standard and a 30 minute drive to Hussar. Alternately Drumheller is a 40 minute drive to Standard and a 35 mintute drive to Hussar. We have a first-come, first-serve hotel blocks at two hotels in Strathmore for those who have been invited to stay at the tournament and have paid their entry fee. Calgary is approximately 1 hour west of Standard.
We are so grateful to have had a lot of interested expressed in our inaugural Howl On Ice tournament! Our U11 division has had the most interest and we are currently closed for that division. Any teams that have been accepted as a good fit for our tournament have been sent invitations, and we are currently awaiting their payment. If payment is not received by the deadline provided, we will move down our waitlist and continue to send invitations.
We will not be reaching out and responding to your application if we feel your team is not a good fit, or our tournament spots are full.
In the league we play in (CAHL) in the U15 and U18 divisions, all teams that want to play body contact must be placed in tier 3 at the minimum level, regardless of skill. The league has made a "strong" and a "weak" tiering within tier 3 to compensate for division of skill within the tier. Both our U15 and U18 teams are starting in the tier 3 weak tier this season.
This is specifically for all of the teams in the CAHL. We have learned that the U15 tier 3 strong division teams cannot attend our tournament because it is also the last weekend of regular season play, thus cannot be blacked out according to CAHL's rules. U18 teams that happen to get bumped up are not impacted by this.
We are only allowing teams to cancel with a full refund if we can find a replacement team. We will not be issuing a refund if your team needs to pull out of the tournament due to failure to find accommodations.
We have found 3 teams in each division to fill our tournament spots. Thank you for your interest.
